Saturday morning update: The boil water notice is lifted for the Town of Washington, following the results of testing. Normal water usage may resume, Town Clerk/Administrator Barbara Batson advised residents

A water line broke on Wednesday in the Town of Washington at the corner of Main Street and Piedmont Avenue. As a result, town officials temporarily turned off water service.

Wednesday evening update: After hours of work, workers restored water service around 7 p.m. Residents should boil their water before drinking.
