JOSEPH — The Hurricane Creek Grange raised a little more than $200 Saturday, Feb. 16, during its annual Chili Cook-off — which also included entries of corn bread.

Ventura City Council approved emergency funding at its Jan. 9 meeting to repair the storm-ravaged iconic pier, along with funds to renovate the E.P. Foster Library.

Cork City and County Archives recently gratefully accepted manuscripts of the works of prose writer, scribe and poet Dáibhí de Barra (Dáth an Ghleanna, Davy of the Glens), from a historical society in the county. Most of his manuscripts are now held in the Maynooth (where Coláiste Cholmáin, Fermoy transferred its collection of works to the Russell Library in 2013), the National Library of Ireland, the Royal Irish Aacedamy, NUI, as well as UCC.

JOSEPH — A Pamona Grange fundraiser will be held Friday, March 31, at the Hurricane Creek Grange, at 82930 Airport Lane just outside of Joseph, according to a press release.

Much of the Ventura Pier remains closed this week after high surf during recent storms knocked out several support pilings.
