Brookline town election: Contested races shaping up

Wicked Local While it’s still early in Brookline’s town election season — with months to go before voters will head to the polls May 4 — some races are already looking to be contested. Here’s the latest information from the Town Clerk’s office, which releases updates every Friday: How do you run for office in Brookline? To obtain nomination papers, contact the Town Clerk’s office at 617-730-2010 and make an appointment. Those running for Town Meeting will need 10 certified signatures, while candidates for townwide office will need 50 (no, electronic signatures don’t count). Incumbent Town Meeting members can also file an Assent to Election form with the town clerk to get their names on the ballot without having to obtain nomination papers. This form is due by March 9.
