Nearly 30 women have settled their claims in federal lawsuits after a security breach at the Clark County jail in late 2021. The final plaintiff, who says she was raped and became pregnant, reached an agreement last month.

The crime was so gruesome, the victim's family would not come to court because they didn't want to have to hear the details.

SOUTHERN INDIANA – The Indiana Court of Appeals upheld a local judge’s decision not to modify the bond of a Southern Indiana man facing an attempted murder charge.

SOUTHERN INDIANA - A Southern Indiana man facing an attempted murder charge is out on bond.

Former Clark County corrections officer David Lowe, 29, broke down sobbing as he claimed he was coerced into a false confession because he feared for his safety during his interrogation.

"When I met with each and every one of these women, and they broke down repeatedly, you get the impression, the understanding of what these women went through," said attorney Bart Betteau.

Clark County Sheriffs Department, ex-corrections officer David Lowe and unnamed jail staff in Jeffersonville are being sued by the women in two separate lawsuits.

The lawsuit is against Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel, former jail officer David Lowe, and other unknown jail officers.

A former corrections officer gave a key to the women's section of a jail to male inmates, leading to numerous rapes and assaults, a lawsuit alleges.
