Area donors establish new scholarships with Community Foundation of the Dan River Region

The Community Foundation is excited to announce the recent creation of two new scholarship funds. Caswell County Schools Scholarship Fund and Virginia Ann Miller Garmon Memorial Scholarship Fund are The Foundation’s new funds of 2021. Caswell County Schools’ March 2021 donation aims to encourage Bartlett Yancey Senior High School graduating seniors to earn a bachelor’s degree for the purpose of teaching school in Caswell County. “This is a need that the Caswell County Schools perceived, and we agree that the scholarship will be beneficial to Caswell County,” said Community Foundation Executive Director Kathy Milam. “Supporting pathways for local students, and encouraging them to remain in the area to teach, will help teacher recruitment long-term.”
