First batch of COVID-19 rebate cheques in the mail says Manitoba Public Insurance

About 200,000 COVID-19 rebate cheques are being sent to Canada Post this week, Manitoba Public Insurance announced today. In total, 680,000 cheques will be issued in coming weeks, for a total rebate amount of $312 million. Its expected all cheques will be mailed by mid-February.

Manitoba Public Insurance adjusts General Rate Application: requests 1.2 per cent rate decrease and $335M rebate to customers

As the hearing of its General Rate Application before the Public Utilities Board opened recently, Manitoba Public Insurance presented updates to its provisional filing made earlier this year based on continued strong financial performance. This included requesting a rate decrease for a third year in a row and updating its separate application for a third customer rebate in a little more than a year.

Changes to car insurance across the provinces

British Columbia As of May 1, British Columbia’s publicly owned auto insurance provider, ICBC, moved drivers to a no-fault system in an effort to reduce car insurance rates by roughly 20 per cent.
