When Tara Shannon sketched a drawing of a rabbit and a bear and wrote about being afraid and needing comfort she was just trying to cope. She was thinking about the death of her parents. She was reckoning with cancer treatments, the loss of her job, and feeling emotions of anxiety, depression, and grief.
