As the 2022 fall theater season kicks off in Connecticut, here are The Courant's 10 shows to look forward to, from "The Mousetrap" to "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

HartBeat Ensemble announced today their upcoming production of My Children! My Africa!, a gripping drama about the collision of education, idealism and politics by preeminent South African dramatist Athol Fugard. The play will run September 29 through October 9 at HartBeat Ensemble's Carriage House Theater (360 Farmington Avenue) in Hartford, CT.

HartBeat Ensemble, the Hartford theater dedicated to social justice and anti-racism, is staging "Bee Trapped Inside the Window," a play about modern slavery, this month at its Carriage House space on Farmington Avenue. The company, which regrouped and expanded while stalled by COVID, has big plans for the rest of the year.

HartBeat Ensemble and the Romanian Cultural Institute announced the collaborative presentation of a provocative new drama, "Bee Trapped Inside the Window" by acclaimed Romanian-American playwright Saviana Stanescu. An intimate look at human trafficking in a wealthy suburb of Connecticut, this virtual play reading premieres Friday, February 26 at 7:30pm and runs through Sunday, March 21. Connecticut Humanities has given 17 small arts organizations around the state $5,000 each in COVID relief grants, to use for general operating expenses. The grants are a collaboration among Connecticut Humanities, the Connecticut Office of the Arts and the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority.
