Becksted Five News Today

A couple of weeks after last year’s municipal election, the resoundingly beaten, lame-duck Becksted Five took the extraordinary measure of terminating the legally binding agreement the city had with its McIntyre development partner.

Seacoast communities, including Portsmouth, Rochester, Dover and Durham, would move into the 2nd Congressional District with western NH towns.

With a little over a month to go in this lame-duck term of the City Council, is it too late to change the name of the ousted public self-servants?

Writers seek a McIntyre divorce, ask the Becksted 5 to move on and suggest historical figures should be judged in the context of the era they lived.

Writers address idling cars, Portsmouths elections, the ongoing McIntyre building saga and NHs refusal to tackle COVID fully in todays letters.

Partisan politics and chicanery, flying in the face of this city’s history, unfairly targeted incumbent councilors.
