If and when the snow flies, the City of Galesburg is prepared to keep local streets clear of snow and ice.

The city will add a deicing product called Beet Heet to road salt, which will reduce the amount of salt needed and work in lower temperatures.

The snow began falling in Lexington around 10:30 Thursday morning but Mayor Linda Gorton told reporters the city's streets and roads department was already hours into its snow response plan.
