Live music generally slows down in the winter time, but we still have some great shows coming up this weekend.

The sky over SOAR NWA may be full of balloons, but the air will be filled with music.

Fayetteville musician and genius producer Raif Box is launching a free-all ages music festival Aug. 18-19 at CACHE Studios in Bentonville. Dubbed Anvil Fest after his Holy Anvil Recording Company, the free event is both a fundraiser to keep the sessions going and to help local musicians and creatives connect with resources -- from booking agents to merch providers, Box says.

Amos Cochran, Leoncarloand Serrano-Torres bring one night pop-up music experience, ArcadeNow, Saturday to The Medium in Springdale. Leoncarlo and Serrano-Torres teamed up for the first ArcadeNow in the fall. Since then they have continued to play together as a duo -- recently at the Sundance Film Festival. Buddy Shute and the Motivators, The Jeff Horton Band and The Downtown Livewires will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Meteor Guitar Gallery, 128 W. Central Ave. in Bentonville, for the Bound For Beale fundraiser hosted by the Ozark Blues Society. The bands travel to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn., Jan. 24-28.
