  A missing case file is delaying bail for two people remanded in prison custody on trumped-up charges following their petition against a Divisional Police Officer, one CSP Benjamin Ugwui for alleged extortion and demand for refund.   The registrar of the Magistrate court that remanded the two victims of police brutality said the file had been dispatched, but the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) reportedly denied receiving the said file.  

Justice Ngozi Orji of the Enugu State High Court has again adjourned the bail application of Ikechukwu Uduji and his boss, Ikechukwu Okolie. The duo were remanded in prison custody for writing a petition against the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui over alleged extortion. Justice Ngozi Orji of the Enugu State High Court has fixed Tuesday, December 12, to rule on the bail application of Ikechukwu Uduji and his boss, Ikechukwu Okolie, who were remanded in prison custody for petitioning against the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui for extortion and demanding for refund.

  Policemen working with the Divisional Police Officer, Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui, have reportedly brutalised and broken the hand of Ikechukwu Uduji, a man who was arraigned with his boss, Ikechukwu Okolie, on a trumped-up charge of attempted murder. Pictures of the police attack on both Uduji and Okolie which SaharaReporters obtained on Wednesday, showed the broken left hand of Uduji at the prison custody in Enugu State.

  The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has reportedly ordered the arrest and arraignment of one Ikechukwu Uduji (23) and Ikechukwu Okolie (38) for allegedly writing a petition against his Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Awgu Police Division, CSP Benjamin Ugwui for extortion and demand for refund.  

One Mr Ikechukwu Okolie, who accused Awgu Divisional Police Officer CSP Benjamin Ugwui and one SP Kelvin Ugwu of illegally detaining and extorting him of N91,000 had been arrested and charged with attempted murder by the same officers and remanded in prison. SaharaReporters had reported that Okolie accused the Enugu Police Divisional Officer of extorting him for daring to seek justice against an operator of a Point of Sale (POS) machine whom his station failed to investigate over alleged N300,00...

Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in the Awgu local government area of Enugu State have allegedly detained a nursing mother, Mrs Chinenye Nwachukwu and her three-month-old baby, in a cell for two days. This comes after two women reportedly attacked and beat her up in her house. The policemen led by one ASP Vincent Oke Ezea, also arrested and detained her husband, Mr Tochukwu Nwachukwu for three days after the wife and baby were released.
