WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) -- A military veteran will be getting a service dog thanks to the generosity of local American Legion Posts.

Thanks to the generosity of local American Legion Posts, a military veteran will receive a service dog after a successful summer fundraising competition, raising a total of $30,000. Post 51 in West Salem, Wisconsin, raised the most funds with $13,000 and named the dog Gilby as a tribute to a late member who had organized the fundraising events. The service dog will offer much-needed therapy and support to the deserving veteran.
