Ran Bar-Yoshafat, a former Israeli soldier, returned to speak at UC Berkeley this March after students swarmed over his previous event in February, shutting it down.

Jewish students at the University of California, Berkeley were forced to evacuate an auditorium as anti-Israel protesters banged on and eventually broke through the glass doors of a campus theater, where an Israeli Defense Forces soldier was scheduled to speak.

A guest lecture by Israeli attorney and former Israeli Defense Force member Ran Bar-Yoshafat was canceled Monday evening following protests outside Zellerbach Playhouse.

While this editorial board and the campus community may differ vastly on where we each stand, we can all agree on one thing: We must remain firmly committed to protecting students.
