This time of year, we are reminded to show thanks for all that we have. For some, however, this is a challenging task.

When you are overworked, overcommitted or overwhelmed, ask for help.

If you struggle this time of year, there are a few things that you can do that might help. First, don’t struggle alone.

Many of the behaviors in teens and preteens do not respond to reinforcement or punishment. This stage needs different set of parenting skills.

Caring for a family member with a mental health condition is a lonely and disheartening undertaking.

Instead of harsh punishments, parents are encouraged to look for consequences that make sense and teach their child what they need to do better.

Find opportunities to spend some unstructured, together time with your kids to get them away from their screens for a little while.

As parents, we are often so consumed with what we want and/or need to do, that we fail to pay attention to what is going on around us.

The more successful we are in hiding or suppressing these emotions, the more likely it is that they will reappear.

To teach accountability, we must shift the weight of responsibility squarely on the student and keep it there.
