South Carolinas political parties have won two court battles to keep candidates off their primary ballots, and were allowed to re-open filing in York County.

The sheriff’s race filing is open through Wednesday and could become the most hotly contested election in the June 11 primary with the potential for a runoff.

Tolson was first elected sheriff eight years ago.

The race to be the next sheriff in York County is heating up after the local Republican Party opted to reopen the filing period for candidates this week.
