A recent study found that overfishing is driving reef sharks to extinction. The study comes as NOAA is considering raising the limits of how many sharks and what species of sharks can be fished in federal waters.

It's been illegal to take a Goliath for the past 30 years, but the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is accepting applications from anglers who want to recreationally harvest these bruisers during the upcoming 2023 season. There's a slot limit, and some areas are out of bounds.
