The Clarkston Wolves survived a fourth quarter of sheer chaos to upset the No. 3-ranked Lake Orion Dragons and eliminate their arch rivals from the playoffs 38-37 Friday night.

For the 2023 Lake Orion football team, the area's top squad heading into the playoffs, the light at the end of the tunnel is the sparkle from a potential state-championship ring.

The No. 6-ranked Dragons completed their circuit through the Oakland Activities Association’s Red Division without a blemish, capping the tour with a 42-21 win over their rivals, No. 9 Clarkston, in a game for all the marbles on Friday. 

LAKE ORION — Lake Orion is here to stay, and they demonstrated it once more in one of the more complete showings on both sides of the ball you’ll see in a football game.

The No. 6-ranked Lake Orion Dragons jumped on host Rochester Adams early, scoring three first-half touchdowns and riding a staunch defense to a 35-0 shutout on Friday, setting up a winner-take-all battle with Clarkston for the Oakland Activities Association Red Division title next week.

Hall of Fame coach Chris Bell of Lake Orion leapt for joy as he watched his defense get a game-ending sack, securing the ninth-ranked Dragons 17-13 win over No. 3 West Bloomfield on Friday night at Lake Orion High School.

The host Lake Orion Dragons started slow Friday, then rolled to a 38-14 win over the Oxford Wildcats to retain the Double-O Trophy.

Rochester Adams in the OAA Red and Walled Lake Western in the LVC have each unleashed new quarterbacks this fall to splendid results.
