Bin Putin News Today

>> the white house really didnt want this to be a split screen, but it is almost impossible not to make those comparisons because of the diametrically opposed views of what we heard from the two men, views of reality, but also forward-looking. thats what i want to ask you about, ben, this big picture that i think was maybe summarized by what the president said when he said what kind of world do we want to build and he framed it, you know, five years from now, your children, your grandchildren, i...

Msnbc political contributor. president bidens speech today was a powerful indictment of russian tactics, both globally and specifically on the battlefield. but what did we learn about the u.s. position and frankly the u.s. strategy to find a way out of this conflict? >> well, chris, we didnt learn a whole lot about the strategy to find a way out of the conflict, but what we did hear as you say is this strong condemnation of vladimir putin and his tactics. the president, again, accusing him of cr...

Forced into this war because russia was potentially going to come under attack by the west, the president called that out as patently false, saying that was just never going to happen. and then notably he said here we are, as were just days away from marking the one-year anniversary of russias war in ukraine, putin has failed at every turn. the president saying kyiv stand strong, kyiv stands proud, kyiv stands free. and making the case that democracies have gotten stronger, nato has gotten stron...

>> well, it certainly makes things more dangerous, chris. what you lose without a new start treaty is any verification regime or transparency or insight into russias strategic nuclear forces. so obviously we would benefit from having that kind of arms control in place. thats why the united states and russia and the soviet union had arrangements like this for decades. what it shows you is the degree to which vladimir putin is cutting the cord on any way back to a relationship with the united stat...

Look for the broader picture here as to how many forces remain. by the way, weve talked about this before, there are a whole host of options for russia short of a full scale invasion, right? there are parts of this country that can advance further into that it already occupies in the east and from crimea in the south. so again, i think with all these developments over the last several days and weeks, the best advice is take a breath and believe it when you see it. >> all right, well be watching ...

That putin and trump do have in common is that theyre constantly underestimated. american intelligentsia underestimated putin because he didnt go to the right prep schools, terrible table manners, and they dismissed him. putin, trump, what we fail to realize is its the harvard trained insiders dont change the world. for better or worse, outsiders change history. and, you know, putin has been dismissed as a mere kgb lieutenant colonel, hitler was a lance corporal, jesus was an itinerant rabbi. >>...
