Pope Francis has set the dates for the second General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Synod on Synodality, and called for Curia-Synod cooperation.

“I’m just curious,” sociologist Tricia Bruce told OSV News. “I come with questions. I don’t come with an agenda or something that I’m trying to do or get out of this.”

With his lengthy and debated Synod of Bishops on Synodality set to wrap later this year, Pope Francis took several steps this weekend to bolster the process in the lead up to a meeting that will bring four years of global consultation to a close.

The Pope did not specify how many groups will be formed, what topics will be studied, or who will participate in the study groups.

They will continue to focus on the theme: “For a synodal church: communion, participation and mission.”
