The End of the Road Film Festival kicks off Thursday, with over 75 films and a particular focus on locally made movies. It's being held in association with the annual Ely Winter Festival.

Each February, mushers head to the Upper Peninsula for the UP200, a nearly 240-mile dog sled race taking teams from Marquette to Grand Marais and back.

Anderson also won the race in 2017, 2015 and 2011.

More than a dozen mushers are in the running in the 300-mile race, including last years top finishers.

The Lake Minnetonka Klondike Dog Derby is back this year after taking 2021 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 300-mile race will begin in Duluth on Sunday and end in Grand Portage on Tuesday.
