If you are a coach at either of Sanders County’s two cross country schools, you may spend some of the next few months shopping for sunglasses.

It was, to say the least, a good meet for Sanders County high school cross country runners.

As the state cross country championships get closer every day, the Thompson Falls harriers are working to get everyone healthy as they look for positive results ahead.

On what was near ideal conditions, several hundred cross country runners converged on the Rivers’ Bend Golf Course for the annual Thompson Falls Invitational meet last week, with men’s and women’s teams from Columbia Falls taking home both team titles.

As cross country events go, this is second only perhaps to the Montana state championships.

For local high school cross country runners, the recent Mission Invitational meet in St. Ignatius was a chance for the concept of quality over quantity to shine.

On a day that was seemingly crafted for cross country running, harriers from both the men’s and women’s Thompson Falls High teams turned in solid performances.
