A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that walking at a speed of 4 km/hour or more can significantly lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. The faster the walking speed, the lower the risk. Brisk walking at a speed above 4 km/hour was found to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by 39%.
