Cunningham Named National Indoor Track Scholar-Athlete of the Year; 19 Noles Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - 19 Florida State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Wednesday afternoon. 10 women and nine men were named to the team. Four athletes accomplished a 4.00 GPA for the spring semester. I'm very proud of all of our athletes on this list. We have had great academic success over the years in our program, and this year was no different, Head Coach Bob Braman said. On the women's side, three athletes recorded 4.0 GPA's. CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were each named to the list. Stauber is getting her masters in sport management while Skyring is pursuing her degree in exercise physiology. Alyson Churchill also had a 4.0 during the spring as she pursues her degrees in psychology and international affairs. Braman, Cunningham and Watkins Jr Take ACC Awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Three Seminoles took home ACC awards Thursday afternoon. Head Coach Bob Braman was named the ACC Men's Coach of the Year. Trey Cunningham was named ACC Men's Track Performer of the Year, and Sean Watkins Jr. was named ACC Co-Freshmen of the Year. The Noles led all teams with three winners. Coach Braman picked up his 14th ACC coaching accolade across the cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field seasons. Braman just completed his 19th season with the Seminoles and picked up his 32nd ACC title, the most among active coaches. Braman led the men to one of the most dominant performances in ACC Championship history this past season. The Noles scored 149 points and won by 56 points, the most since league expansion. The Noles also finished fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, its highest finish since 2012. Cunningham added another award to his resume. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State hurdler Trey Cunningham was named one of 10 semifinalists for The Bowerman Tuesday afternoon. Cunningham becomes the third Nole to be named a semifinalist for the award, joining Maurice Mitchell and Ngoni Makusha. Makusha won the award in 2011. This is another great honor for Trey. He is now on a short list of people in school history who have been in the running for this prestigious award. He put together a special season and is very deserving of this honor, Head Coach Bob Braman said. Of the 10 semifinalists, Cunningham is the only athlete to go undefeated against collegiate competition in their primary event. Cunningham went a perfect 20-for-20 in the 60m hurdles and the 110m hurdles during the indoor and outdoor season. Cunningham holds the second-fastest times in NCAA history in both the 60m hurdles (7.38) and the 110m hurdles (13.00). TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State track and field athletes Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were both named COSIDA Academic All-Americans Tuesday afternoon. Skyring was named a First-Team Academic All-American for the first time in her career while Ruby Stauber earned Second-Team Academic All-America honors. Skyring is the first Seminole to earn first-team honors since Stefan Brits in 2016. "We've been fortunate to have many Academic All-Americans throughout our history, and it is exciting to be able to add to that tradition with Maudie and Ruby. I believe this is the highest honor our student-athletes can receive while they are here at Florida State, and I'm really proud of both Ruby and Maudie for their work both academically and athletically," Head Coach Bob Braman said.
