Justice Anuja Prabhudessai demitted office as a judge of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday bringing down the count of women judges in the High Court to ten.
Justice Ahuja was made an additional judge on March 4, 2020, with an extension of term on March 4, 2023. On January 4, 2024, the collegium recommended that he be made permanent.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of three additional judges - two from the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and one from the Bombay High Court - as permanent judges.
