Western Digital is commenting on reports that hackers have stolen around 10TB of data from the company. The security incident affected Western Digital’s My Cloud service for 10 days.

Western Digital keeping quiet on linking outage to attack

My Cloud has been down for a grand total of five days now, but the company has offered users a local way to access files on their devices.

US-based storage services provider Western Digital has shut down its My Cloud consumer cloud and backup service due to a systems hack.

Western Digital doesn’t have the best track record with security, so it’s not much of a surprise that the company just got hacked again. The breach has also shut down most of the company’s online services, including My Cloud.

Western Digital has confirmed that its network security was breached and some data was obtained. Its My Cloud services are still down.
