Fishermen in the south central coastal province of Phu Yen received
16,000 national flags and 5,000 portraits of President Ho Chi Minh during a ceremony
held on January 19.
The ceremony, titled
“For the Fatherland’s sea and island sovereignty”, was jointly organised by the
Border Guard High Command, provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Joint
Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank).
Speaking at the event,
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Pham Dai Duong affirmed that over
the past years, Phu Yen’s fishermen have played a pioneer role in protecting
the country’s sea and island sovereignty and contributed to maintaining

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam hopes to send 90,000
markets that secure high and stable incomes, according to the
Overseas Labour Management Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids
and Social Affairs.
Last year, more than 78,600 workers were sent abroad, accounting for 112.3
percent of the adjusted plan due to COVID-19.
Of the total, 38,891 worked in Japan, 34,537 in China’s Taiwan, and 1,309 in
the Republic of Korea, and the rest in other countries and territories.
Last year, the country aimed to send 130,000 labourers to work abroad. Due to
the pandemic, the target was adjusted down to 70,000 workers.

Officials of the Xin Cai Border Post in the northern province Ha Giang on Monday accepted 20 Vietnamese nationals who were handed over by Chinese police.
According to the local border guards, the handover procedure took place around 1:00 pm on Monday.
Major Mua Mi Cay, a political instructor at the Xin Cai Border Post, said the repatriated group consists of farmers doing seasonal jobs in Yunnan Province, China.

Ten localities suggest allocating 10,000 tonnes of rice for Lunar New Year
Ten localities suggested allocating nearly 10,000 tonnes of rice for residents during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, heard a press conference hosted by the General Department of State Reserves in Hanoi on January 8.
In 2020, the general department provided 132,100 tonnes of rice worth over 1.4 trillion VND.
Deputy head of the State Reserves Goods Management Department Pham Viet Ha said when the central region was hit by floods last year, over 19,000 tonnes of rice worth 213 billion VND (9.26 million USD) along with search and rescue equipment valued at around 202.9 billion VND were earmarked for them.
