The Border Kei Chamber of Business wound up its journey to select the winners of the Business Awards programme on Friday at a lavish event at the International Conference Centre.The event recognised outstanding businesses, and the individuals who helped them succeed, in six categories, highlighting their contribution to the Border-Kei economy.

The Life Beacon Bay Hospital on Monday unveiled the new R17m expanded intensive care unit which transformed the former six-bed unit into a 10-bed unit. “It’s beautiful, there are so many things I wasn’t expecting, we will see what it looks like with patients,” said neurosurgeon Dr Zwelithini Mpungana, one of the doctors shown the revamped ICU by business operations manager Bruce Janssens.
