SC frames legal issues, will examine validity of notification expanding BSF's mandate to 50 km from intl border

The Supreme Court will examine the validity of the Centres 2021 notification expanding the BSFs jurisdiction. The notification increased the jurisdiction of the Border Security Force from 15 km to 50 km. The court will adjudicate the legal issues raised by the Punjab government, including whether the increase in BSFs jurisdiction is arbitrary and whether it constitutes unconstitutional interference in the legislative domain of the state.
