Bowers said the audit looked at a five-year trend in multiple facets of Eddy County’s finances.
“(Assets) saw a steady increase over time due to prior year capital spending related to road construction,” the report read.
“The increase of $47.5 million from 2019 to 2020 as a result of excess property tax and gross receipts taxes (GRT) increasing the cash and investments in the County.”
“Over the last five years capital assets have gone up,” Bowers said. “If you look at the liability side, the total liabilities have gone up about $65 million. You don’t really have a lot in long term debt.”
