One year after losing in the Class 1 baseball state championship game to the Oran Eagles, the St. Elizabeth Hornets finally got their revenge Tuesday night, jumping out early and never looking back in a 9-2 victory at U.S. Ballpark.
For four innings, it looked like it was going to be a pitchers’ duel between the St. Elizabeth Hornets and the Platte Valley Longhorns. Then in the fifth inning, St. Elizabeth made it look one of its typical postseason outings. The Hornets broke loose with six runs in the fifth, cruising to a 10-0 win in six innings against the Longhorns in Monday night’s Class 1 state semifinals at U.S. Ballpark.
