Widespread showers and storms will be occurring just to our west over the Texas/Louisiana border and northern Louisiana Tuesday. These storms will eventually make their way eastward Tuesday night through Wednesday ahead of a cold front. There will be the potential for scattered severe storms over the Lower Mississippi Valley where the majority of the viewing area is placed under an enhanced risk (3/5) for severe weather in orange below.

South Louisiana and Southeast Texas are no strangers to active hurricane seasons, and this year's could be more active for the Gulf Coast.

An upper-level low over Texas is responsible for the scattered showers and storms across the Lower Mississippi Valley. A complex of thunderstorms is expected to develop over Northern Louisiana and slide to the southeast during the day to bring Southeast Louisiana increased rain chances.

A storm complex over Texas will track to the east into Louisiana Saturday morning. Storms could fire up over the area Saturday morning, but the best chance will likely come late morning through the early evening hours.

A cold front will move across the region on Thursday, but it may not clear our area until Friday morning. Storms out ahead of the front will move into the area Thursday morning.

An area of low pressure is expected to develop in the Gulf of Mexico sometime Wednesday. Strong easterly winds will lead to coastal flooding and high seas. Pockets of heavy rain may lead to localized flooding for the Greater Baton Rouge area. Highest rain totals will likely stay southeast and east of Baton Rouge
