Brandy Paradee News Today

A special West Bonner school board meeting set for Wednesday is drawing community concerns as well as that of an attorney representing two Bonner County voters granted a restraining order prohibiting the board from making any decisions that bind the board financially or contractually.

Weeks overdue, West Bonner superintendent Branden Durst’s background investigation is completed, according to Tracy Rusho, the district’s human resources coordinator.

Branden Durst's first fingerprint card was never found by the district or the state.

West Bonner trustee Carlyn Barton said superintendent Branden Durst stated that his background check was submitted and approved when it wasn’t.

The school district received an email this week explaining that Branden Durst’s background check paperwork arrived Monday.

Branden Durst believes he was chosen for a purpose.

West Bonner district leader Branden Durst had some potentially uplifting news for the embattled school community during a Wednesday evening school board meeting. Durst announced that Bonner County is going to make two more payments to the district based on the payout from a 2021 supplemental levy. This includes an immediate payout of $896,859 and a second payment of about $150,000 still to be collected from property taxes in the next 12 months.

We should all be concerned about the current situation at the West Bonner County School District office.
