A tenure track professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago apologized Wednesday after calling Israelis "irredeemable excrement" and "pigs" on social media.

 

Adjunct professors and lecturers voted overwhelmingly to join AFSCME, adding to the union’s winning streak in recent elections.

The decision comes amid growing pressure on Kanye West, now known as Ye, after he made repeated public antisemitic statements.

The workers say that a “strong majority” of their group wants to affiliate with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

If the non-tenure-track faculty succeeds in forming a union, it will more than double the size of the Art Institute of Chicago Workers United, which represents about 500 workers.
