Rosanna Harshman has been teaching English at Huntington Beach High for 13 years. Westminster High School's Eric Dykes is the other Teacher of the Year.

The six comprehensive high schools in the district held their first day of school on Wednesday. About 14,000 students will be served districtwide over this school year, officials said.

The former assistant principal will replace Daniel Morris, who was recently named the new head of Edison High.
