The district has reorganized its executive suite, bolstered student services, and accelerated its plans to update air conditioning infrastructure.

The board unanimously approved a five-year contract with the YMCA to revive the overnight outdoor camp at the YMCA’s Camp Oakes, beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Plans are in the works for the district to bring back its week-long outdoor learning expedition for fifth graders next school year, with the location changed to the YMCA’s Camp Oakes near Big Bear, off State Route 38.

Megan Kerr is among the newly elected City Council members who will be sworn into office tonight, when she will officially begin her new role representing Long Beach's 5th District.
