An Earth Day celebration at Mission Park last weekend had locals taking in the scenic view, while also learning about science.

The Tahlequah Parks and Recreation Department has been working behind the scenes, including most recently at the Purple Heart memorial statue.

Graffiti is a big problem in Tahlequah, and city council members recently voted to build an expensive fence around the pavilion by Norris Park to try and curtail the defacing

Due to a high incidence of graffiti and vandalism of the pavilion by Norris Park, city council approved the installation of a wrought iron fence around the property.

This year’s focus for My Tahlequah, a project presented by the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce, is the new Mission Park.
