After completing its extensive classroom training, the Lane County TIP program has officially launched and has already had calls for service.

The Lane County chapter of the Trauma Intervention Program has finished its first stage of training, meaning the volunteers are ready to go out and assist emergency responders in the field.

After weeks of training, local volunteers are ready to go out in the community and help people at risk for trauma after emergencies.

In an afternoon ceremony at Eugene Police Department Headquarters on March 11, volunteers for the Trauma Intervention Program (T.I.P.) in Lane County were recognized for completing their trauma intervention training.

Volunteers would be called by emergency personnel to provide emotional and practical support to people affected by tragic scenes.

When someone has just experienced a tragedy, they shouldn’t be alone in the worst hours of their lives. This is the basis for Lane County’s newly established Trauma Intervention Program or TIP.

A national non-profit devoted to helping those affected by tragedy is opening a chapter to help Lane County residents.
