Faulty reporting of hospitalization numbers by the Saskatchewan Health Authority led to “inaccurate” data being published on the provincial government’s website and in daily news releases, according to the Ministry of Health.
Health Minister Paul Merriman said in an emailed statement Thursday afternoon that he had been “informed of a discrepancy in hospitalization numbers, including ICU counts, that has led to inaccurate reporting of hospitalization data.”

On Wednesday, the province reported a total of 166 people in hospital, with 23 in intensive care. Of these, it listed a total of 89 in Regina, of which 15 were in ICU.

For more than a month, 79-year-old Sharon Allan has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but her family still has not been able to visit her.
Allan lives in the Memory Care unit at Brightwater Senior Living in Regina, and on Feb. 19, she received her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

But Lori Wiens, Allan’s daughter, said she has not seen her mother since December because the province’s strict restrictions on visitation in personal and long-term care homes still remain in place, even after nearly everyone in the home has been fully vaccinated.
