Eli Noyes, the Oscar-nominated animator who revolutionized stop-motion filmmaking with his use of clay and sand, has died. He was 81.

Noyes leaves behind a legacy of creativity and innovation, remembered not only for his technical prowess but also for his contributions to storytelling and animation artistry.

Noyes made the Oscar-nominated short 'Clay or the Origin of Species' as an English undergrad at Harvard, launching an influential career in animation.
