Subscriber only A Mackay man has been reprimanded for throwing cold coffee over his girlfriend during a heated argument. At the time the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was about two weeks shy of completing probation for similar offending. Mackay Magistrates Court heard it related to a December 2019 incident where he had thrown food on the ground in anger believing his partner had been flirting with a male friend. The whole idea of probation is that it s put in place by the court to rehabilitate you, to stop you throwing food, to stop you throwing drink, to stop other acts of domestic violence, Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan said.Â
As a result the man and his juvenile son, both who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged. On Friday the father pleaded guilty to common assault over the matter. Mackay Magistrates Court heard the confrontation occurred after two motorcyclists parked their bikes next to the man s car as a result Mr Kapitzke s bag allegedly made contact with the vehicle. The father shaped up to Mr Kapitzke while gripping two ice-creams, which he asked his son to take. Prosecutor Rob Beamish said during the stand-off the father told Mr Kaptizke, I ll f ing knock you clean out c and continued to yell, scream and swear at the victim .
