When dozens of companies in the U.K. experimented with a four-day work week, employers and employees loved it. Could a four-day work week work in the United States?

Fire Station #24 was home to an all-Black crew of firefighters way back in the early 20th century. Decades later, it took a lawsuit to get the City of Minneapolis to open up firefighter hirings to minorities.

Right now, 15% of all Minneapolis firefighters are black, according to city data. Within the city of Minneapolis, African Americans make up nearly 19% of the population.

The event was put on Thursday by the city of Minneapolis' Civil Rights Department.

Multiple city leaders are expected to discuss the state of roads within Minneapolis and how difficult travel has become on them, especially for emergency vehicles.

Minneapolis will use the grant to hire 15 more firefighters, bringing the citys Fire Department to its highest authorized strength in two decades.

"At this time, we think the situation has stabilized, but we remain vigilant," the state fire marshal said.

Authorities have evacuated a portion of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis following reports of a fire and possible explosion. No injuries have been reported. Mayor Jacob Freys office announced that he has nominated Fire Chief Bryan Tyner and Emergency Management Director Barret Lane to serve additional terms.
