JENNINGS, Mo. A man is recovering from a gunshot wound after he was struck while riding in a car Sunday.
Two men were riding west on Florissant Avenue near Apricot Avenue when another vehicle pulled alongside their vehicle.
One or more people fired shots at the victims. The man who was struck was a passenger in the car. The 20-year-old man was struck once. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jennings Police told 5 On Your Side detectives from the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are leading the investigation.
Charges have been filed for an assault and rape that happened 31 years ago in St. Louis County after new DNA testing linked a man to the unsolved case from 1989.
The victim of the crime was walking to work around 4 a.m. Sept. 30, 1989, in the 2200 block of Hudson Road in North County, when she was attacked at gunpoint and taken to a nearby carport, assaulted and raped, according to a St. Louis County Police Department account.

The suspect and the victim were strangers, and the victim reported the crime to police immediately. At the time, the victim was 29 years old. She is now 61.
2 men shot dead inside St. Louis County apartment

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. Police are investigating after they said two men were shot to death inside a St. Louis County Thursday evening.
Police said they responded to the complex on the 8400 block of Plaza Rock Court in northwest St. Louis County at around 5:40. When they arrived, they heard gunshots inside the apartment.
Officers said they attempted to make contact with someone inside the apartment. When that failed, officers set up a perimeter outside the building until the St. Louis County Tactical Unit could respond.

BERKELEY, Mo. (AP) Police in the St. Louis suburb of Berkeley are investigating after finding a man fatally shot.
The shooting was reported just before 11 p.m. Sunday, and responding officers found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Berkeley police said in a news release.
The man was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released.
Berkeley police have asked for help from the St. Louis County Police Department, and the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading a homicide investigation into the shooting death. No arrests had been reported by Monday morning.
