Penang keeps its events vision on 2030, as CVB reports 156 events held in 2020
Despite the halt on international travel and limitations for business events, the Malaysian state of Penang recorded a total of 156 events with 19,283 participants and 48,963 room nights in 2020.
The figures were announced by the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) at a short ceremony followed by an Iftar dinner event The Wembley hotel.
The PCEB 2020 Business Events Penang Annual Review was attended by CEO Ashwin Gunasekeran; The Rt. Hon. Chow Kon Yeow (chief minister of Penang); The Hon. Yeoh Soon Hin (PCEB chairman and Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy) and other legislators.

Malaysiaâs Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) conducted its 4th Annual Penang Roadshow in India for travel agents in Mumbai two weeks ago. This yearâs show was carried out fully virtually followed by a Penang Night special dinner hosted for the Indian travel agents.
This hybrid format ensures maximum outreach of the roadshow to Penang, Malaysiaâs largest travel markets. The virtual business meet connected Penang and Malaysian sellers to qualified Indian buyers from different industry segments including business events, leisure travel, weddings, team-building events and filming. The virtual show had a total of 25 registered sellers from Penang and the larger Malaysia travel and business events industry and welcomed more than 200 buyers in total.
