The Mustangs ended the regular season with the league’s best record at 29-15 and are looking for their fourth consecutive MINK League title when the best-of-3 series opens up at 7 p.m. today at Vivion Field.

The Jefferson City Renegades have been in a rough spell of late and desperately needed something to go their way to create momentum. The Renegades got that Monday night at Vivion Field in Game 2 of their doubleheader against the Sedalia Bombers. After a late-inning rally sent the Bombers to an 8-3 victory in Game 1, Jefferson City rebounded late in Game 2 to tie the contest and sent it to extra innings before walking off a 5-4 win to split the twinbill.

After a slow start offensively, it was too little, too late for the Jefferson City Renegades on Wednesday night against the St. Joseph Mustangs at Vivion Field. The Renegades entered the seventh inning trailing 4-0 and their comeback bid fell just short as the Mustangs picked up a 5-3 win in MINK League play.

Joplin committed five errors compared to the Renegades’ zero to help pave the way for Jefferson City to erase an early three-run deficit to pick up a 10-4 victory at Vivion Field.
