Carolina’s 229th birthday celebration focused attention on water quality and flooding research that benefits the state’s residents.

"When Carolina’s researchers see the problems of this world, and particularly the challenges in our state, we act. Our researchers don’t look around to see who else might respond. We face the problem head-on, roll up our sleeves, and we get to work."

Register for nearly 60 events celebrating discovery, including classes, panel discussions, webinars and hands-on demonstrations.

The campus community will celebrate Carolina’s 229th birthday on Oct. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Classes will be canceled from 3:20 to 4:40 p.m. to allow for attendance.
