Made for Drink is making a foray into the UK’s £1bn potato crisp category with two offerings inspired by world cuisine. The UK meat snack producer is rolling out Chicken Salt Fries and Tapas Fries into Sainsbury’s and other independent retailers in the UK on 21 April.
Despite its name, Chicken Salt Fries is actually a vegetarian treat, flavoured with an umami-packed condiment loved across Australia. The thin cut potato fries are seasoned with chicken salt, a turmeric-based seasoning that was made famous by Mitani in the 1970’s. Made for Drink collaborated with the seasoning house to create this Ozzie favourite, which it believes will go down as well with
Good Food Brands on a mission to showcase minority and woman-owned snack innovators The online subscription platform was founded with the aim to highlight up-and-coming snack startups to allow consumers to discover unique treats that might not have as yet found their way onto the shelves of retail outlets like Whole Foods.
While Good Food Brands concentrates on snacks that obviously will tickle the taste buds, founder Jordan Buckner told BakeryandSnacks its mission is also to highlight those brands that are good for consumers’ health and good for the community.
This month, the ecommerce site is offering a Discovery Box that highlights Black-owned snack entrepreneurs. The subscription box – which can be shipped to snack explorers in the US – contains eight products specifically chosen for the free from and health conscious consumer, including allergen-friendly cookies from Partake Foods; fonio chips from Yolélé; gluten-free granola from Mrs. P

The duo have already planted more than 18,000 trees across Ecologi’s global reforestation projects – which supports the Gold Standard for businesses and consumers under the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal agenda.
The collaboration with Ecologi builds on Bakedin’s existing environmental commitments, which includes a fully sustainable supply chain, introducing an electric vehicle programme and switching to recyclable packaging. It has also signed up to offset each of its employee’s personal carbon footprints by funding climate change solutions.

To date, more than 50% of Partake Foods’ total $7.5 million in funding has come from big names in the music industry, including Jay-Z’s VC fund, Marcy Venture Partners, and another Grammy Award-winner, H.E.R.
Partake was founded by Denise Woodard to create suitable snacks for her young daughter was diagnosed with multiple food allergies. More than one in 13 American kids are allergic to one of the top 8 allergens (wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, fish and shellfish), according to Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), with Black children being at a significantly higher risk.
