Emergency repairs have been underway since Labor Day weekend, after record snow fell last winter, heavily impacting sections of I-80 between Colfax and California’s state line with Nevada. Work this week will be limited due to upcoming weather.
Caltrans crews working on an Interstate 8 rehabilitation project between La Mesa and El Cajon will close lanes in both directions for night work beginning Sunday.

Caltrans QuickMap shows that chains are required on all major highways in Trinity County. In addition, Caltrans warns, “All big rigs traveling on northbound I-5 are being screened for chains 10 miles north of Redding at Fawndale. All big rigs must show chains to continue northbound.”
