Man, 28, dies after he’s shot several times on city street, cops say Updated 8:00 AM; A 28-year-old man died early Wednesday after he was shot multiple times on a street in Camden, authorities said. Mahlon Kellum, of Camden, was found by police who were called about 2:30 a.m. to the intersection of 6th and Viola Streets on a report of a shooting, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer. Kellum was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries, Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said in a statement. “The shooting remains under investigation and detectives are working to determine who is responsible,” the statement said.

Homicide was Camden s seventh this year and the first since Feb 21

CAMDEN - A city man was fatally shot here Tuesday, ending a period of more than six weeks without deadly violence in Camden. Lamar Maye, 46, was found shortly after 4 p.m. in a car on the 1200 block of Lake Shore Drive, according to the Camden County Prosecutor s Office. Maye, who d been shot several times, died a short time later at an area hospital. An investigation into the shooting was underway. No arrests were announced. Maye s death was the city s seventh homicide this year and the first since Feb. 21. In contrast, Camden had two homicides at this time in 2020.
