The Peaceful Village and MacDonald Manor public housing communities in Chesapeake will receive interior renovations beginning next summer. The Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority also has plans to add 56 senior assisted living rentals at MacDonald Manor.

A department spokesperson said this happened at around 11:30 on Todd Street. off of Berkley Ave. Ext. near Campostella Square.

On Thursday, August 3, Rep. Scott presented the check with other local leaders, including Mayor Rick West.

Candidates include former NFL player and current Chesapeake City Council member Don Carey III; engineer Jason Wooldridge from Suffolk; and Baxter Ennis, who unsuccessfully sought a seat on the Chesapeake City Council last year.

In 2021, more than 200 people were shot and killed across the seven cities, with 25 of them being in Chesapeake.
